Rochdale-born Home Secretary Sajid Javid is Conservative favourite to replace Theresa May after she stands down

Home Secretary Sajid Javid, who was born in Rochdale, is the Conservative favourite to succeed Prime Minister Theresa May after she stands down in 2022, according to the results of a new poll.
According to the Survation survey of Conservative councillors for the Mail Online, Home Secretary Mr Javid is the Party's first choice to replace Mrs May, followed by Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab.
The 753 Conservative councillors who took part in the poll were asked to pick from 11 leadership contenders, listing them in order of preference.
The favourites in order were: Sajid Javid, Jeremy Hunt, Dominic Raab, David Davis, Amber Rudd, Michael Gove, Boris Johnson, Penny Mordaunt, Jacob Rees-Mog, Andrea Leadson and Esther McVey.
