Christmas thanks for Spotland Clean and Green team

Mayor of Rochdale, Councillors Faisal Rana and Cecile Biant thank the Spotland Clean and Green team and local volunteers
Frontline workers from Rochdale Borough Council’s Environmental teams and local volunteers gathered in Spotland Community Centre for lunch as a token of appreciation for their hard work in the for keeping Spotland Clean and Green.
The Mayor of Rochdale presented staff with a box of chocolates and bottle of wine each as a gesture of appreciation and thanks for their hard work throughout the last year.
The Mayor praised the teams for their involvement in the towns In Bloom success, and added that he had received many positive comments from across the borough about the cleanliness of the town.
The event was organised and funded by Councillor Faisal Rana.
Cllr Rana said: “Our environmental teams and Spotland volunteers have put in a huge effort this year. We could not thank them enough for keeping Spotland ward clean and tidy throughout the year.
“The awards Rochdale has won demonstrate just how outstanding our town is. It's hoped that this small gesture will go a long way towards showing how much the hard work of our frontline environmental teams is appreciated.”
Councillor Cecile Biant said: “It’s great to see council staff and volunteers from among the residents are working very hard in keeping Spotland and Rochdale clean.
“I appreciate the efforts of the teams, it is very important to show our gratitude for exceptional work done by all throughout the year.
“I hope that this strong working relationship between the teams and volunteers will continue for the good of the ward.”
Local resident, Rachel Massey added: “Rochdale has looked amazing this year, and it's such a boost to see everywhere looking clean and tidy.
“It's great that Faisal has arranged this today to thank the Council staff and the environmental volunteers for their contribution to our community.
“The local volunteers work especially hard, going out each week collecting litter and working tirelessly to improve their area. Their efforts are inspirational to us all.”
