Whitworth High celebrates highest progress score

Whitworth High is celebrating after its Progress 8 score placed it among the top third of schools in Lancashire and was the best result in Rossendale.
The is a new secondary school accountability measure that looks at the progress made by pupils over eight subjects from primary school to the end of high school and Whitworth Community High School generated a Progress 8 score of +0.16.
Headteacher Gill Middlemas said: “Congratulations once again to all colleagues and to our 2018 Year 11 cohort.
“Your outstanding efforts and high-quality teaching and learning enabled students to achieve excellent individual examination results, led to our school's best GCSE results and generated a Progress 8 score of +0.16.
“This shows that our students outperformed students of similar ability nationally across the range of subjects they studied.
“Our Progress 8 score places us in the top third of all Lancashire schools and means that this year we have the highest progress score in the Rossendale Valley.”
