Healthwatch Rochdale publishes findings and recommendations after Enter and View visit at Briarmede Care Home

Briarmede Care Home, 426-428 Rochdale Road, Middleton

Healthwatch Rochdale, has today, Friday 30 November, published a report containing findings and recommendations from an Enter and View Visit that took place at Briarmede Care Home, 426-428 Rochdale Road, Middleton, M24 2QW.

The visit was based on eight care quality indicators developed by Independent Age.

Areas of improvement were identified on four of the indicators, resulting in five recommendations being made to help improve the patient experience:

Recommendations for improvement included:

• To ensure staff are able to spend quality time with residents to prevent feelings of isolation and loneliness. 
• Having all personal information on a one-page profile on the back of resident’s bedroom doors to ensure staff have a good knowledge of each resident and how their needs may be changing
• Having a ‘you said we did’ board to demonstrate how resident and staff feedback can make a positive difference

Kate Jones, Chief Executive Officer, said: “The Enter and View team observed some really positive areas of care at Briarmede, with a good range of activities available and staff treating residents with dignity and respect.

“However, five areas of improvement were identified, which include areas relating to visible management, staffing levels, staff uniforms, personalisation, and implementation of a you said we did board. Healthwatch Rochdale will be reviewing the recommendations with the home over the next 3-month period."
