Expert health advice at your fingertips with NHS 111 online

Date published: 30 November 2018

Getting the right health advice at the right time is now even easier with the online version of the NHS 111 service, now available in Greater Manchester.

The website at 111.nhs.uk helps people access on-the-spot, immediate healthcare advice with their smartphone, tablet or computer.

Using the service, symptoms of illness and other health needs can be checked and tailored advice on what to do next and where to go is presented to you right away.

The online assessment process takes only about three minutes to complete

Depending on your clinical condition and the time you’re online, you can be connected to a nurse, an emergency dentist or GP.

The online service is fast, free and offers the same help as the 111 phoneline.

People can use the NHS 111 online service to:

  • Answer questions about symptoms
  • Find out where to go for help if you can’t see your own GP or dentist
  • Get a call back from a nurse
  • Get advice on self-care.

Tracey Vell, local GP and associate lead for primary and community care at Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “If you’re feeling unwell, or have symptoms you’d like to check, then 111 online is an excellent place to get expert advice immediately. Over 20,000 GM residents have already successfully used the service.

“We’re keen that people can access the right care swiftly and efficiently and to help them avoid making unnecessary visits to A&E or their GP when there could be more appropriate alternatives.

“By using 111 online, patients can be swiftly guided to the best and closest NHS service to them.
