The aftermath on King Street
Over 1,200 homes were on the receiving end of a power cut during the early hours of Wednesday morning (28 November).
An underground cable fault on King Street caused the electricity to go off in Milkstone and Deeplish shortly before 2.30am, with the power being fully restored just before 4am.
One affected resident added: “There was an explosion of some sort and then the electricity was gone.”
A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “An underground cable fault caused the loss of power to 1,218 customers in Rochdale at 2.19am on Wednesday morning. We restored power automatically to 203 customers within three minutes and engineers arrived quickly onsite and restored power to 428 customers at 3.01am, and the remaining 587 customers at 3.56am.”
