All proceeds from the day will be donated to the charity ‘Fairy Bricks’, who provide Lego sets for children in hospices and hospitals. The money will also be used to buy Lego goods that will be donated to Hopwood Community Primary School.

Hopwood Primary School were chosen at last year’s Monkey Bricks event as the winners of the ‘School Competition Build’, meaning Lego goods will be supplied to them on Thursday (29 November). Donations include the educational Vernie the Robot Lego Boost and Lego bricks.

Joining families on the day were 2017 champions of Channel 4’s ‘Lego Masters’ - Steve Guinness and Nate Dias - along with Kato who is a contestant in this year's series two competition.

Stephen Scrivens, owner of the Monkey Bricks shop at Heywood Market who organises the annual show with Northern Brickworks, said: “I have been a fan of Lego for a while and I am passionate about giving and helping people through Lego.

“I want to say a big thank you to the general public who came along and supported our local event.

“We’re hoping next year it will be even bigger and even better as it will be hosted over two days instead of one with different displays on show each day. We’re even thinking about having a massive live build over the two days in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest plastic toy train track made out of Lego.”

Monkey Bricks 2018 featured displays of custom Lego builds, children’s activities and play bricks, a charity tombola and refreshments were provided as attendees browsed Lego retail including Christmas baubles made out of the plastic bricks.

Monkey Bricks is a small independent shop that has been located at Heywood market for nearly 2 years. The shop buys, sells and builds all things Lego for all ages.
