N-Compass maps out carers rights at Rochdale’s annual event

Last year's Carers Rights Day attracted scores of people from across the borough

Local carers can learn more about the advice, help and support they are entitled to as the borough of Rochdale celebrates Carers’ Rights Day on Friday 30 November.

This year’s event, held at Rochdale Football Club, will be packed with useful information to help carers in their vital role supporting and looking after loved ones.

The event is being organised for the council by the N-compass Northwest run Rochdale Carers’ Hub, who offer support, advice and information to over 25,000 carers across the borough.

Dozens of organisations will be on hand to provide information, financial help, advice on winter fuel savings, advocacy and dementia support.

Information on carers’ assessments will also be available and there will be specialist support for carers who need help with their digital devices. Pamper sessions, health checks and therapeutic massages will be offered throughout the day.

The popular Carers’ Choir will start the day on a high note, belting out timeless tunes in their usual charming style.

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, cabinet member for adult services, said: “We have thousands of carers across the borough doing a dedicated and selfless job supporting and caring for their loved ones. Carers’ Rights Day is an important event on the calendar as it showcases all the help, support and advice that is available throughout the year to our wonderful carers.”

Rochdale’s Carers’ Rights Day is on Friday 30 November from 9.30am to 1.30pm at the Radcliffe Suite at Rochdale Football Club in Sandy Lane. The event is free and anyone is welcome to attend.
