Middleton in Bloom plant 'Field of Hope' for Marie Curie

Date published: 27 November 2018

Winter may be starting to set in but Middleton in Bloom is already thinking ahead to spring, as they planted scores of daffodil bulbs in Alkrington on Sunday (25 November).

The ‘Field of Hope’ project on Mainway is a group collaboration between Middleton in Bloom, Rochdale Borough Council’s Environmental Management team and terminal illness charity Marie Curie, which uses the spring bloom as its emblem.

A spokesperson for Middleton in Bloom said: “We wanted to create a living memorial whilst raising awareness of Marie Curie.

“We would like to thank Rochdale Council and ward councillors Peter Joinson, Peter Williams and Patricia Dale for supporting this project and joining us. We would also like to thank all the volunteers including St Michaels Primary school pupils; it was a fantastic turnout.”
