Heywood Rotary Club have started all their preparations for their Christmas fundraising, parties for the elderly and sorting gifts for the foodbank.
On Saturday Heywood Rotary Club members started their build up to Christmas when they spent all Saturday and Sunday at Morrison’s with the scouts collecting money for local charities.
Also, on Saturday morning Heywood Rotary President, Mike Goldrick, was at Siddal Moor High School for their 50th Anniversary celebrations, presenting a plague from Rotary in recognition of 50 years.
In the afternoon Mike and fellow Rotarian Colin Fruen went to Miller Vanguard in Bury which has built the club a brand-new sleigh.
Heywood Rotary President, Mike Goldrick said: “And what a sleigh it was, surely the talk of Heywood on to the parade for the Christmas lights switch on.
“We are now coming up to our busiest time, we will spend this week getting the sleigh ready for Christmas, ready for the big off on Saturday 1 December, then it’s all systems go.
“A massive thank you to the lads from Miller Vanguard for building our new sleigh at no cost to the club.
“We will be out every night from the 1 December until the 18 December with the sleigh, weather permitting, around Heywood so keep your eyes open for Santa.
“We will also be doing Christmas parties in the sheltered accommodations including Corcoran Close, Cherwell, Springfield and Roeacre.
“Then on behalf of Miller Vanguard Ltd two nights hamper packing, new toys and food for Heywood Foodbank.”
