Help homeless people with local charity's Pass it on Scheme

Date published: 21 November 2018

A Rochdale charity is appealing for donations to fund their Pass it on Scheme and help local homeless people.

The Sanctuary Trust’s Pass it on Scheme will only be funded if at least £10,000 is pledged by 12pm on 27 November.

The Pass it on Scheme recognises the valuable contribution persons with lived experience can offer the homeless and those at risk. Sanctuary Trust aims to provide the experience, knowledge and training that will help to cultivate the next generation of homelessness workers with lived experience and pass on the interventions they received to any future homeless persons.

A minimum pledge of £10 will feed give a rough sleeper a daily substantial meal for a week through the soup kitchen, whilst a donation of £100 or more will provide assistance and furniture to move a previously homeless person into their home.

Sanctuary Trust is a registered charity working with homelessness and homeless-related poverty and emergency homeless issues. ‘God's Sanctuary’ was the vision of Sheila Halsall after seeing the level of homelessness in Rochdale and substance misuse.

In addition to the shop, the charity is made up of a homeless shelter on Tweedale Street, a night shelter open between 7pm and 9am on Milnrow Road and a soup kitchen at the former premises of High Level, to the rear of Champness Hall.
