Thousands of bikers to circle Manchester in Ring of Red Remembrance Ride of Respect

Date published: 07 November 2018

Over 2,000 bikers are expected to take place in the Ring of Red Ride of Respect around the M60 motorway on Sunday 11 November.

The ride will travel clockwise from Birch Services at 1pm, westbound onto the M62. The bikers will leave one lane at a time, led by a marked paramedic vehicle with two AA motorbike outriders, then a bike marshal followed by about 150 bikes and trikes, then a gap then another bike marshal leading a group and so on.

After every six groups of riders, there will be an AA patrol vehicle and the ride will be completed by veterans’ cars, then ‘tail end Charlie’ and specialist motorbike recovery vehicles.

A small number of bike marshals will assist with emergencies and provide safety cover during the ride, but all the bike marshals will be in radio contact with each other.

A short announcement, a dove release and the sounding of the Last Post will take place at 12.45pm before the ride commences.

This ride is intended to present a physical show of support for our Armed Forces, both current and previous.

With all riders wearing something red, when viewed from above, they will appear to be making a huge red poppy around Manchester.

Those taking part are asked to enter Birch Services via Junction 19 off the roundabout to the HGV park.
