Hopwood Hall College makes the Top 50 Inclusive UK Employers list

Date published: 06 November 2018

Hopwood Hall College has been shortlisted for The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers 2018/19, making it the second consecutive year the Middleton and Rochdale-based college has ranked in the top 50 UK companies after being ranked 10th in the 2016/17 list.

Where inside the top 50 the further education college is ranked will be announced at an awards ceremony hosted by Manchester’s Midland Hotel on 15 November. Last year, the only education-based organisation to rank higher than Hopwood Hall College was The Open University.

To be considered for the list, employers from across the UK must demonstrate the promotion of inclusion across all protected characteristics, this includes all strands of diversity such as age, disability, gender, LGBT, race, faith & religion; the definitive list focuses on representation at management, senior, executive and board level.

Caroline Street, Executive Director at Hopwood Hall College, said of her organisation’s achievement: “All of us at Hopwood Hall College are really proud to be ranked in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers list once again, we constantly work hard to make sure the positive and inclusive culture we have amongst our learners is translated to our employees as well.

“Hopwood Hall College is a diverse and thriving community reflective of the local area and all of our staff are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. In the last year we have significantly increased the profile of our LGBTQ group, become a Living Wage Accredited employer and have worked hard to ensure opportunities are readily available for applicants from all backgrounds.

“Being recognised as one of the top UK employers emphasises the importance we place on inclusivity and pushes us on to strive for even greater diversity.”
