Appeal to help find charitable family who cared for elderly man on the street

Date published: 05 November 2018

Victoria Nutter is trying to find a caring family who supported her 88-year-old grandad when he collapsed in the street.

Stanley Nutter was found in the Kingsway area on Monday afternoon (29 October), after he told his family he was going for a walk to help with his recovery from a stroke.

Stanley’s granddaughter, Victoria, said: “My grandad recently had a stroke and is still recovering. He went out on a walk by himself on Monday, but what should have been a quick ten minutes then turned into an hour, which was very unusual for my grandad.

“My nan had a knock on the door from a stranger (a woman) with two children and a pushchair, informing us that he was on Kings Road in Rochdale and was collapsing as he had walked too far.

“We found him, and he is now safe.

“The next day, my nana came home to find get well soon cards from the children written to my grandad from Cam and Leah.

“She would like to write a thank you note and give the children a little thank you present to show how grateful we all are, but we don’t know the ladies name or contact details. My nana can’t remember what the family looked like and neither can my grandad as it was all a blur.

“We hope this message gets to the lovely lady.

“It just goes to show there are some good people in the world.”
