Rochdale Infirmary to help the homeless this December

Date published: 01 November 2018

Rochdale Infirmary is gearing up to help the homeless this December with a winter drop-in on Thursday 6 December 2018.

Lynette Cook, activities co-ordinator on the Wolstenholme unit at Rochdale Infirmary, has helped run the event for the past three years.

She said: “Rochdale is our town and we all need to help our community. This event has grown bigger each year and we have now about 40/50 homeless people coming to this, but we would like to make this even bigger with your help.

“We would be most grateful for any donations of outdoor and winter clothes, good shoes and boots, warm socks, hats, scarves and gloves, and toiletries and personal items.”

Staff at the infirmary give out free hot meals and drinks, clothes, coats, shoes, quilts and a Christmas present, whilst there are also stalls for foot care, flu jabs and a hairdresser.

There will also be choir singing, plus support and advice from Rochdale Council’s alcohol and drugs service and homeless charity, Petrus.

You can drop off donations at the Rochdale Infirmary main entrance reception desk or Wolstenholme Unit.

The drop in will take place at the Aroma Café at the Infirmary’s main entrance between 4pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 6 December.
