RSPCA looking for animal lovers prepared to speak out

Date published: 31 October 2018

The RSPCA is looking for people with a passion for animal welfare to sign up to be volunteer speakers.

The charity currently has 66 volunteer speakers helping to spread the word about animal welfare - but as part of an ongoing ambitious Generation Kind campaign they want to double this number before the end of the year to meet demand.

Andrew Pearson, who coordinates the volunteer speaker scheme at the RSPCA, said: “We are keen to recruit in Greater Manchester and Birmingham.

“This can be a really fulfilling role for people looking to find an interest outside of their work or studies, or perhaps for someone retired.

“Full training will be provided so you can be confident going out into schools and youth groups, such as Scouts to help educate people about the work of the RSPCA and focusing on the five welfare needs of animals.”

Alongside volunteer speakers and RSPCA branches, RSPCA inspectors will also form an integral part of this programme. In addition to their primary role of carrying out vital animal rescues, they will be taking a more proactive role in educating young people about animal welfare.

RSPCA inspectors will also be going into schools to help teach the next generation how to be kind to animals from next year.
