Children join Stamford House residents to celebrate Halloween

Date published: 31 October 2018

Each month two local childminders, Mandi's Childminding and Patricia's Childminding, come in with their minded children and the Stamford House events team do a fun session with the residents and children.

Roxanne Sharp, Events and Activities coordinator for Stamford House Residential Home said: “In October the theme was Halloween and residents helped decorated the home in the run up to the event.

“The children came in fancy dress, we started with a story and to keep in the Halloween theme we used 'Room on the Broom', the children got involved by reading certain sections of the book and helping with props.

“We then did some dancing to various party songs which are well known to the children and residents, everyone joined in with the dancing even from armchairs.

“We then did craft activities of edible chocolate sparklers and witch colouring sheets.

“We finished off the session with residents and the children spending some time with our chickens that were provided through the Social Hens Project and the finished with our favourite goodbye song.

“All the residents and children love the sessions we hold and it’s a regular favourite on our events calendar.

“Our November session will be used to prepare and practice for our Christmas Carol session in December.”
