The annual spooktacular Norden Halloween party was a real graveyard smash on Saturday night (27 October) as ghouls, witches, demons and devils were out in force.

Hundreds of people turned up to join in with the spooky fun and various games. Children and parents alike dressed to scare at the award-winning Norden Jubilee Park, enjoying music, dancing, treats and tricks aplenty.

Volunteers worked all day to provide the event for the village and decorated the park to a superb standard, which consisted of a spooky graveyard, sound and lighting effects.

Fab Dance Centre, led by Fiona Briddon, gave the attending public a fantastic dancing show which began with a Michael Jackson Thriller flash mob routine, followed by many other Halloween Classics.

Fiona commented: "All the kids from Fabdance centre thoroughly enjoyed the event on Saturday night and loved being able to perform their Halloween numbers. It was a huge success and great community spirit. All the kids are from the area and love performing at their local events."

Activate provided entertainment, which included Mummy Wrap and Halloween treats for the kids, whilst Nutters Restaurant Official cooked up the excellent black peas enjoyed by many.

The Mayor of Rochdale was also on hand to award prizes to the best dressed children, accompanied by local councillors, and free sweets were given out to all the kids for making a fantastic effort in dressing up.

Paul Ellison, Chairman of Friends of Norden Jubilee Park, said: "What a great event for Norden, and it was so good to see so many children and parents having spooky Halloween fun. It was a great turn out and the park was in its element.

"We have some wonderful pictures of the event and recently with the park winning a national RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Britain In Bloom certificate of distinction, where one of the main reasons was for its community involvement."

“Thanks to all who attended on such a cold evening, and all the volunteers who helped out. I would like to thank our partners and sponsors Activate, Fab Dance Centre, The Bridge Chippy, Carousel Cards and Party, Maskerade Fancy Dress, and Gary Clegg Building Services.”
