Generous Heywood driving instructor funds student’s lessons and test for free

Date published: 27 October 2018

A generous driving instructor from Heywood has provided a student with free driving lessons and a test so she can support her mother.

Paul Middleton, of Pass with Pads driving school, offered 30 free hours and a practical driving test to 18-year-old student Paiton Harrison, of Accrington, after spotting an appeal in the Lancashire Telegraph.

Paiton had previously spoken to the Lancashire paper to raise £1,200 for her lessons and test so that she could take her mother, who has mobility issues, to hospital appointments in her mobility car.

Paul said: “I became a driving instructor to help others drive and I wanted to help. I contacted Paiton through her Just Giving page, but I wasn’t the only one to offer her free lessons.

“Paiton and her mum are both really nice. Paiton is about halfway through her lessons, so we’ll start preparing for her test soon.”
