Rochdale singer-songwriter Leah Fisher contributes to benefit CD

Date published: 11 October 2018

A song by 16-year-old vocalist, Leah Fisher, a former pupil at Oulder Hill School, has featured on a benefit CD for an independent magazine.

The track is just one of 13 contributed by top bands and singers from across Greater Manchester, for the ‘All Materials of Value Have Been Removed’ CD by the Sounds of Salford radio.

Attending a recording studio which was involved with the project, Leah penned the powerful indie track with a Latin-inspired rhythm, ‘My Escape’, about how her journey with music was her own personal escape.

Her proud mum, Shirley Fisher, said: “Leah writes a lot of material herself. I’m biased, but hers is one of the best tracks on the CD.”

Former Oulder Hill Head Girl Leah now studies performing arts at Bury College and has performed at the Mayor’s inauguration, Springhill’s annual Summer Serenade, and the NHS’ 70th birthday celebrations.

All proceeds from the CD go towards helping the Salford Star magazine survive, a free and independent magazine distributed around Salford.
