Denehurst Park targeted by vandals

Date published: 10 October 2018

Denehurst Park has once again been targeted by vandals, damaging the quirky little trolls once again, but also a wooden hedgehog sculpture.

A number of plants are understood to have been stolen from the park and two new trees broken.

Councillor Neil Emmott, cabinet member for environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “The council, alongside community members, have worked hard to turn Denehurst Park into an attractive open space for residents.

“This type of petty vandalism destroys their efforts, is a blight on our community and must be stopped.

“There is CCTV in the park, so we will be working with PCSOs and the police to track down those responsible. We would ask the public to report any incidences of anti-social behaviour in our parks to the police as well as our parks team, who can be contacted on 0300 303 8884.”

The damage to the trolls is believed to be the third time the stone creatures have been targeted.

The trolls were first damaged at the end of July, much to the dismay of the local schools that installed them, and were targeted once again in August.
