James Bond gala dinner licensed to thrill

Date published: 08 October 2018

Rochdale Golf Club was licensed to thrill on Saturday (6 October) for the black-tie James Bond gala dinner in aid of Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home.

Two Aston Martins were parked outside front door and a paparazzi photo shoot took place on the red carpet before 130 guests enjoyed an opulent four-course dinner.

A silent raffle and auction also took place and guests had the chance to play the casino tables whilst enjoy one of many cocktails – shaken, of course – from a special bar.

Event organiser Jane Barker said: “This was the first event of this kind. We look forward to many more in the future because this has been so successful.”

The Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home at Nab Farm in Wardle is a non-profit charity that was established back in 1894, requiring £65,000 a year to run the home.

In the 1920s, Nab Farm was donated by Frederick Lye, one of Rochdale's most distinguished citizens and benefactors to the committee of Rochdale Poor Children’s Moorland Home.

Operating between March and September, the charity has two distinct functions in providing services and facilities for school children during term time and for children referred by children’s social care, schools and community groups, during school holiday periods.
