“With support from five Rovers from the Middleton Federation of Scouts of Europe Scout group, the event has raised £178.29.

“Sara Rowbotham, deputy leader of Rochdale Borough Council, and Kit Wellens, Middleton Rotary Club president, judged the efforts of the competition entrants.

“The adult winner was Cherry Healey who received an original print from local artist Steve Whitworth, while the under 16 winner Abi Matthews won a bumper chocolate hamper.

“A raffle also aided the fund-raising efforts, which included a meal for two from local Market Place restaurant La Minhaz.

“The money raised will be going to support Rotary's End Polio Now programme.

''Many thanks to the Olde Boars Head staff, Sara Rowbotham, Rovers leaders and fellow Rotarians for making this event happen and to assist in our efforts in eradicating this disease from our planet.”
