Hamer Community Primary School

The children in Reception went on their first trip of the year this week, when they went on a walk to the local shops. As always, the children behaved wonderfully and a fabulous time was had by all. They were awarded the Citizens of the week for enjoying their walk exploring their local environment.

There will be a Non-uniform day on Thursday and children are asked to come in red, white or blue (or indeed a combination of these). The colours have been chosen in recognition of our first whole school reading destination which is London.

The first of the Year 6 Reasoning Club sessions will be held on Friday at Marland Hill school. Letters have been sent requesting permission to parents whose child has been selected to attend, and the children will work with others from across our group of schools (the IPLCN) to solve problems and think more deeply about maths.

Parent Curriculum meetings have already taken place in KS1, LKS2 and UKS2. Thank you to parents who attended. We hope the information that was shared proved useful and we look forward to working together to aim for the very best outcomes for our Hamer children. Attendance is shown below:

  • KS1 – 26 parents attended
  • LKS2 – approximately 12 parents attended
  • UKS2 – 37 parents attended

The meeting for Early Years Foundation Stage will take place on Monday and we look forward to seeing many parents.

There is an excited buzz around school at the moment, with many of our Year 6 children being busy writing speeches and putting campaign posters around school. This is because, on Monday, we are beginning the election process for our Head Boy and Head Girl. In assembly, children who wish to stand for election will be able to explain why they should be chosen, with pupils from across school voting next week. We look forward to announcing our winners shortly.

Unfortunately, we have had no interest in the position of Parent Governor and so a vacancy still exists.

Year 6 revision materials are available to buy from school and are very reasonably priced. Please see a member of the UKS2 team for more information.

Well done to Mrs Bearpark’s class with the best attendance for week ending Friday 14th September 2018. Thank you to all parents who have returned the completed contact forms. All parents who returned their forms by Friday, will have their names entered in a prize draw raffle, with the winner being chosen in assembly on Monday. Any parents who have not yet returned the forms, please do so as soon as possible as it is vital that we hold current information for all children.

Parents will have received a letter earlier this week asking for donations to Rochdale foodbank. In the past, their representative has been overwhelmed with the levels of support provided by Hamer families and we hope to experience just as much support again this year. Please could donations be sent into school by Wednesday, so that they can be collected after the morning assembly. Thank you.
