Knit and Natter Group and Bra Shop support 'Knitted Knockers'

Date published: 21 September 2018

Carrol Booth came up with an innovative solution to one of her customer’s problem – Knitted Knockers.

Carrol, owner of the All Season Bra Shop and Fitting Service in the Middleton Shopping Centre, was inspired to respond to the need of a woman who was struggling with wearing her traditional breast prosthesis following a mastectomy operation.

Carrol said: “I had heard of a group who were making ‘knitted knockers’ for breast cancer survivors and since it was such a great idea, I thought I would find out more about it and see what I could do to help local ladies.

“I looked online for a ‘knitted knocker’ pattern and then approached the Lighthouse Project which has a weekly ‘Knit and Natter Group’ to see if they could make some to giveaway.

“The group were more than happy to take up the challenge and in no time, they had produced a variety of knitted prosthetics ready to be used.”

“How fabulous are the volunteers and visitors from the Lighthouse Project’s ‘Knit and Natter Group’ who gave up their time to help others and to produce something that will make a real difference to the women who get to use them.  I am just so happy.”

The Knitted Knockers are available, free to anyone who needs, them from the All Season Bra Shop.
