Thousands of pounds’ worth of tools were stolen from a workman in Newhey on Monday (3 September).

The workman, who did not wish to be named, attempted to chase the thieves as they made off from the scene in a green BMW.

He described the duo as "an Asian driver and a tall white male with scruffy ginger hair".

Amongst the tools taken were power and hand tools plus a bag of cordless drills.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Shortly before 12.35pm earlier today, police were called to reports that a vehicle had been broken into on Leyland Drive in Newhey and tools were stolen.

“Enquiries into the incident remain on-going.”
