Crowds come out for Castleton Carnival
Date published: 27 July 2008
This weekend saw the annual Castleton Carnival take place involving spectacular floats, the Oldham & District Mini Club, festival queens and lots of spectators and family fun.
On Saturday, a car boot sale was held, but the day was mainly aimed at children with a fun fair and sports activities.
On Sunday, the procession met up on Chesham Avenue. The procession went down Manchester Road and through Castleton, down to the Tesco roundabout, where it turned left onto Bolton Road. Once on Bolton Road, the parade led on to Springfield Park where a range of activities were hosted.
Activities in the park on Sunday included a fairground, stalls, a bouncy castle, and a dance performance from Academy Dance.
