An 'Enter and View' visit by Healthwatch Rochdale at Riverside Nursing Home in Littleborough found really good care but recommended improvements be made in areas of staffing, meal times and smoking areas.
A further recommendation was to incorporate plants and a memory garden into the outdoor area to help stimulate the senses and spark reminiscence in dementia patients
The visit was based on eight care quality indicators developed by Independent Age.
Areas of improvement were identified on four of the indicators, resulting in the four recommendations being made to help improve the patient experience.
Kate Jones, chief executive officer of Healthwatch Rochdale, said: “There was some really good care observed at The Riverside Nursing Home by representatives on the Enter and View visit. However, it is always our aim to drive up standards in the quality of care and so we have made four recommendations for improvement to the service”.
