Bikers brave the rain for annual ‘Ride In, Rock Out’ charity show

Date published: 30 August 2018

Approximately £1,000 was raised for charity as over 100 bikers braved the rain for the annual MT Heads’ ‘Ride In, Rock Out’ charity show on 19 August.

The crowd was entertained by four bands, Tomorrow is Lost, Cobolt Collision, Valaryia and Saints of Arcadia and trophies were awarded for various categories, from sports bike to Learner Legal, with a very special trophy this year: the Moorland Children's Home trophy, who are MT Heads’ beneficiary this year.

However, it was 11-year-old Liam Burke who stole the show by having his hair, which he had grown for two years especially, cut short. He then donated the hair to the Little Princess trust, which makes wigs for children with cancer. He also raised £150 which he split between The Princess Trust and Moorland Home.

Event organiser, Leah Lambert said: “Despite the awful weather, which meant numbers were down on previous years, we had a very good turnout, with around 150 bikes coming to the Town Hall car park.

“We are very grateful to everyone who braved the rain and as always, to our very special trophy sponsors for supporting our efforts to raise money for a worthy local cause. Moorland Home is dear to the hearts of many local people and we are proud to have them as our chosen charity this year.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you to the Flying Horse Hotel and Empire for generously sponsoring the stage.

We still have some money to collect in, but we managed to raise around £1,000 all of which is for Moorland Home and which will be added to other fundraising events throughout the year.”
