The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund presented a £500 donation to the Mayor of Rochdale’s charity appeal on Tuesday (21 August).

A cheque was presented at Rochdale Town Hall to Mayor Mohammed Zaman by Vivien Carter, chairwoman of the Deputy Lieutenants’. She was assisted by Co-Deputy Lieutenants in Rochdale, Ian Sandiford and Wing Commander David Forbes.

Mayor Zaman said: “I have recently been kindly donated £500 towards my chosen charities, to support local causes and promote their work.

“I want to thank the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund for this donation and for their continuous support of the Mayor’s charities.

“The support really does make a difference by boosting the moral of small local charities that work so hard, along with volunteers.”

The Mayor’s charities this year are:

  • Springhill Hospice
  • Petrus
  • Parkinson’s UK
  • Rochdale Community Partnership
  • Moorend Trust
  • British Heart Foundation
