Air ambulance landing on Dearnley playing fields
A woman has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury after a collision near the Spar garage on Halifax Road on Friday morning (24 August).
Two ambulances attended the scene at 9.39am with a rapid response unit, whilst the air ambulance and a senior clinician landed on the nearby Dearnley playing fields.
The patient, who was a pedestrian, was taken to Salford Royal via road ambulance with the hospital on standby.
Halifax Road has been closed in both directions between the Ox and Plough pub and Birch Road, and the closures will remain in place for several hours.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs and driving without a licence.
Update: Halifax Road reopened at 4.36pm.
