Denehurst trolls vandalised for second time

Date published: 23 August 2018

Two quirky troll statues in Denehurst Park have been vandalised for a second time, just weeks after they were first attacked.

Councillor Neil Emmott, cabinet member for environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “I’m appalled that the trolls are getting such abuse in Denehurst Park. They were installed as part of a creative writing competition in partnership with two local schools and have already become a much-loved feature by park regulars.

“The latest attack took place early afternoon on 15 August and we do have clear CCTV images of those responsible. We are working with PCSOs and the police to track down the culprits.

“We would ask the public to report any incidences of anti-social behaviour in our parks to the police as well as our parks team, who can be contacted on 0300 303 8884.”

The trolls were first damaged at the end of July, much to the dismay of the local schools that installed them.
