Kingsway Park GCSE results

Aimah Naqui got 2 grade 6s, 2 grade 5s and three grade 4s in her GCSEs. She said: I missed year 10 because I had a bone marrow transplant so I have had to do two years study in one year.

The teachers really helped me to catch up and I’ve got the grades I need to go to Oldham Sixth Form and do A Levels in History, Photography, Psychology and English Literature.”

Momena Rashid said: I’m happy with my results. The teachers were really helpful with extra lessons before and after school and lunchtime sessions in English really helped me. Momena is going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and maybe English Language.

Ahmed Raza was one of the top performing students at Kingsway Park with three grade 9s, four grade 8s and a grade 7. He said: “Kingsway is a warm and welcoming school. It is very daunting when you first start school in year seven but the older students look out for you here. How much the teachers have helped us this year is unbelievable. The staff work really hard.” Raza is going to study A Levels in September, one in Maths and two science subjects but he’s not sure which ones yet.

Qais Hussain got a grade 8 in his English Literature exam which included a perfect score on one of the questions on his exam paper 2. The perfect score of 30 marks was on a question about Lord of the Flies which Qais said was his favourite book. Head of English at Kingsway Park, Mr Tootill said: “I’ve never seen that happen before.”

Abdul Ahad got six grade 8s, a grade 7, a grade 6 and an A. He said, I’m really happy with how I did, I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science because I want to be a dentist. It’s great here, I am excited to move on to college but dreading it at the same time.

 

Simeon Sanyaolu, Ihsan Alattar, Natalie Smith and Kaleem Ashiq

 

Natalie Smith got two grade 8s, three grade 7s, a grade 6, a grade 5 and an A. She is going to begin an 18-month apprenticeship as a teaching assistant at Springside School in Rochdale in September. She said: “I’ve always wanted to work in a school. I don’t want to do A Levels, I can get a qualification and earn money with an apprenticeship.”

Kaleem Ashiq is a former North West boxing champion. He has been training for ten years at Queensway Boxing Club. Alongside boxing he is going to be studying at the Fitness Academy at Hopwood Hall College

Ihsan Alattar got one grade 8, three grade 6s, three grade 5s and a B. He is going to Manchester College to study a Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. He said: I’m happy with my results. I want to start my own sports clothing line.”
