St Cuthbert’s RC High School GCSE results

The school’s top performer was Jinson Rajin who got three grade 9s, four grade 8s and a grade 7. He joined St Cuthbert’s in year 8 and said: it has been a rewarding experience; all my hard work has paid off.” Jinson is going to study A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology.

Leo Abraham would like to work in the legal profession. He got one grade 9, four grade 8s, two grade 7s and a grade 5. He said: “I’m going to study A Levels at Rochdale Sixth Form in September but what subjects I choose might change now, because I’ve done better in my science GCSEs than I though.”

Stephin James got four grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 7s and a grade 6. She is going to study A Levels at Rochdale Sixth Form college in Mats, Further Maths and Psychology. She said: “Everyone at school was supportive and helpful. I’m going to miss my teachers.”

 

Amelia Skalinska, Emma Waldie and Sumayyah Zia

 

Amelia Skalinska, head girl at St Cuthbert’s is going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. She said: I’ve done well, it was hard but manageable.

Emma Waldie said: “I am very, very pleased with my results. It was very tough but it’s paid off.” Emma is going to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography at Rochdale Sixth Form.

Sumayyah Zia said: “I am speechless. I am very pleased with a grade 7 in Maths.” Sumayyah is going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.

 

 

Bartek Szymkiewicz, head boy at St Cuthbert’s said: “I’ve been at St Cuthbert’s for five years and its been great. I’ve felt welcomed here especially as I am originally from Poland. The teachers here really do care and they are very supporting. Bartek is going to Rochdale Sixth Form in September to study A Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Economics.

Zuhaib Zulfiqar got two grade 9s in Science and a grade 8 in Maths. He is going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

Courtney Schofield got a grade 9, five grade 8s and two grade 7s. She said: My favourite subjects were History and Spanish. My ultimate goal is to be a barrister and I’d like to study at a top university.” Courtney is going to study Law, Spanish and English Literature A Levels at Rochdale Sixth Form.

Reece Grant had trials this summer with Burnley FC and began pre-season training with them in August. He is going to study a Level 3 BTec in Sport as part of the Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team programme which is delivered by Burnley FC in the Community staff in partnership with Nelson and Colne College. The programme gives talented young players between the ages of 16 and 18 the chance to combine academic studies with practical football experience. Reece has previously played football at Littleborough Juniors and Bridge Colts and rugby for Mayfield.

Martyna Chudzinska got two grade 7s, five grade 6s and a grade 5. She is going to study A Levels at Oldham Sixth Form in Graphic Design, Combined English and Sociology. She said “I’ve done a lot better than expected. I’d like to be a designer or teach English in Asia. Being at St Cuthbert’s has changed me for the better.”

Musambya Kisimba is going to study a Level 3 BTec Diploma in Sport at Bury College. Musambya is a scholar with Rochdale AFC and plays in their youth team. He joined Rochdale at under 14 level and he plays as a striker. He said: “My time here at St Cuthbert’s has been up and down but in the end was good.”
