Miss Crown and Glory Greater Manchester raises hundreds of pounds for charity

Date published: 23 August 2018

The current Miss Crown and Glory Greater Manchester has raised £400 for charity ahead of the pageant’s UK grand final this weekend.

Demi-Lee Mills has raised funds for charities such as Abbie’s Army and Giddo’s Gift by abseiling down Bury’s Peel Tower and selling glowsticks for outside a nightclub with her friend, Emily Hannon.

Giddo’s Gift provides gifts or financial grants to teenagers and young adults suffering from cancer who live in the north west and in north Wales, and Abbie’s Army is a Children’s Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) brain tumour research charity

Demi-Lee said: “Despite my fear of heights, I stayed positive and completed the abseil down the 128-ft tower for charity because it means so much to me.

“I am going to try bring that UK crown home for Rochdale, but crown or no crown, I will carry on with charity work and helping the community of Rochdale and Greater Manchester as it’s something I love to do.”

Defying the bullies and determined to stand up to them, Demi-Lee and her sister Rebecca entered the Miss Natural Beauty England and Teen Natural Beauty England pageant last year.

Demi-Lee was second runner-up, whilst youngest sister Rebecca won best hair, best smile and Miss Congeniality.

Whilst the pageant was Rebecca’s first entry, Demi had previously competed in in Miss Lancashire 2017 and Miss Teen Great Britain where she represented Oldham as Miss Teen Oldham 2017.

Demi-Lee will be competing for the Miss Crown and Glory UK title at the grand finals in Wrexham on Saturday 25 August 2018.
