Reuse Littleborough to run soup kitchen during Eid

Date published: 21 August 2018

Reuse Littleborough will be running the Wednesday soup kitchen from the former magistrates’ court during Eid on 22 August.

Every Wednesday, approximately 80 service users arrive at 5.30pm to be fed by the soup kitchen, which is run by Rochdale Community Partnership (RCP).

Community group Reuse Littleborough, which also supports the homeless with clothing and shoes, will support RCP on a regular basis every fourth Wednesday.

Reuse Littleborough, now based at the former Royal Oak Hotel, aims to reuse many unwanted items and save them from the bin, giving them new leases of life by passing them on to families in need.

Michael Bamford, who runs Reuse Littleborough, said: “This Wednesday, Reuse Littleborough will take over the venue and serve food at the court from Littleborough.

“RCP have been there week in week out for two years, and as it is Eid, it makes sense to give them a night off with their families.

“As I have a budget, I’m looking for caterers in the Boro to tell me what is available for 100 portions. I’m not looking for free food as I want to help local caterers.

“We will support RCP every fourth Wednesday, so it will be a regular thing.

“If anyone wants to help on the night, message me or call in at the Hub that was a Pub.”
