Chris Hutchinson, who lives in Bamford, graduated from his Certificate in Education qualification in 2017 and has since secured the role of Bury College Workshop Tutor in the Carpentry and Joinery department.
Chris, 43, who has over 20-years industry experience, began his career at Bury College in 2012 as a Workshop Technician. Having identified a passion for teaching, Chris chose to enrol onto a course that could lead him to a meaningful career.
Chris said: “If it wasn’t for the support from the Bury College University Centre tutors I couldn’t have completed my qualification. My course helped me to get back into academic writing and completing work such as referencing and producing bibliographies. I love my job working in the Bury College Construction department, the team all pull together to support one another.”
Whilst working at Bury College, Chris has secured over 25 certificates which has included English and maths Level 2, Health and Safety, Assessor Award and Level 3 PTLLS.
Chris added: “I started at Bury College as a Technician so it is great that I could still work whilst studying in order to progress my career. I felt a great sense of achievement to graduate.
"The next step for me would be to secure a role as a Lecturer which I am now working towards.”
