Railtour hauled by Stanier 8F 2-8-0 number 48476 and Standard 5MT number 73069
4 August 1968 saw the end of regular British Railways steam in the Rochdale area.
Richard Greenwood from STORM said: “The last working was a Railtour hauled by Stanier 8F 2-8-0 number 48476 and Standard 5MT number 73069.”
The photograph shows them passing Castleton East Junction signalbox.
