Troll statues vandalised in Denehurst Park

Date published: 31 July 2018

Troll statues that were recently installed in Denehurst Park, in partnership with two local schools, have been vandalised.

Councillor Neil Emmott, cabinet member for environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “The council and community have worked hard to turn Denehurst Park from an unused space into the Green Flag awarded park it is today, so to see vandalism like this is a real kick in the teeth.

"The trolls were installed in partnership with two local schools and were part of a creative writing competition, so this turn of events is especially disappointing, given the children's efforts.

“There is CCTV in the park, so we will be working with PCSOs and the police to track down those responsible. We would ask the public to report any incidences of anti-social behaviour in our parks to the police as well as our parks team, who can be contacted on 0300 303 8884.”
