Ashfield Valley Primary School, Rochdale, held an Enterprise Fair to raise money for a charity in Uganda called Drumbeat Children's Foundation.
Parents, children and staff were very supportive and the school we raised £909.51.
Children and staff produced items to sell - bear biscuits, fruit kebabs, flowering plants that had been grown from seed, lollipops, and bracelets.
The money will help to support orphans in Uganda to go to school, receive regular meals and get medical attention when required.
Heather Edge, headteacher, presented Peter Williams, the co-founder of Drumbeat Children's Foundation, with a cheque on Friday 20 July.
The school hopes to repeat the fair every summer to raise money for Drumbeat.
Four members of staff have chosen to sponsor a child in Uganda through Drumbeat, giving them an opportunity to go to school.
In August 2018, Peter Williams will travel to Uganda with a team of volunteers, which includes Miss Insley, Ashfield Valley Nursery teacher, and her children aged 10 and 12. They will run a summer camp for 200 Ugandan children alongside the charities co-founder, John Bosco Mugwanya.
