Parking restrictions to be implemented in Norden
Date published: 26 July 2018
A traffic order is to be implemented in Norden, Rochdale Borough Council’s Cabinet agreed on Tuesday.
The parking restrictions will be on Blackpits Road and Edenfield Road to improve safety in the area, particularly on the bends.
The bends situated immediately to the west of Hutchinson Road and Greenbooth Road continue to experience a growing proliferation of parked vehicles, impeding forward visibility and increasing the possibility of vehicles travelling in opposing directions crossing over the white centre line markings.
A traffic engineer speaking at the meeting said: “This is purely for safety. The visibility on that bend is non-existent with the risk of a head on collision. A previous traffic accident there was in part due to restricted visibility due to obstructions on the road.”
Its estimated cost is £3,500 to be met by township capital funding.
A wider consultation on other parking issues in Norden will be carried out in the near future.
