Additional bedrooms installed before planning permission is granted

Date published: 25 July 2018

Additional bedrooms have been installed on a new housing development in Milnrow, despite only having applied for planning permission recently.

The submission for minor alterations outlines creating two additional bedrooms within the roof space with two rear dormers in one block of houses on the site at Moorhouse Fold.

Neighbouring residents reported receiving letters about the new application on Friday (20 July), but claim work had already been carried out prior to the letters arriving.

Two objections have been logged on the Council’s planning portal, as there was no mention of block A receiving a third floor, or dormer, on the original application.

The original application was approved subject to conditions in September 2016 and saw light industrial buildings demolished before building five homes and only shows a ground and first floor on the plans.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Borough Council: “We are aware of this and are looking into it.”

The latest application was validated on Monday 25 June and has not yet been heard at a Planning and Licensing Committee meeting, which will decide to approve or decline permission.
