Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 24 July 2018

The Year 6 children had an amazing night of glitz and glamour at their annual OSCARS awards ceremony by way of graduation and celebration for their efforts, achievement and individuality demonstrated throughout their time at Hamer.  Parents and teachers were all so proud of them.

The Year 6 children also entertained us last week with two dazzling performances of this year’s Leaver’s Play – Noah’s Ark.  Their speaking and performance skills were better than ever.  What a brilliant performance – thank you Year 6.

At the Year 6 Leavers Assembly, the children enjoyed a final farewell and we also gave Mr Buxton-Moore a lovely send-off.

Mr Buxton-Moore said: “As I move on next year.  It has been an utter privilege and a joy serving this community as Headteacher and I look forward to hearing about the fabulous work that will continue here with the amazing children, teachers and that the new leadership team takes the school forward to even better things!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The following children recently enjoyed a pizza treat in school in recognition of their outstanding behaviour and manners this half term during lunchtimes.  Thank you for being so brilliant.

SAT’s Results.

This year’s Year 6 SAT’s results were phenomenal and are now on the website, alongside the great set of KS1 SAT’s results previously reported.  Year 6 results were as follows:

  • Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation: 87% at Age Related Expectations, with a whopping 40% of children achieving the Greater Depth score. This takes the school well above National Averages.
  • Reading: 73% at Age Related Expectations with 16% achieving the Greater Depth Score.  This is an attainment improvement of a massive 25% from last year and brings us back in line with National Averages.
  • Writing: 80% at Age Related Expectations, with 7% of children achieving the Greater Depth score. This takes the school above National Averages.
  • Maths: 87% at Ager Related Expectations with an impressive 29% of children achieving the Greater Depth score. This takes the school well above National Averages.
  • A very impressive 69% of Hamer Year 6 children achieved at Age Related Expectations in every component of the SATS with 4% of children achieving the Greater Depth Score in every component.  There is no National Comparison for this figure available yet, but to say we are delighted is an understatement.

In September children lunches are going up 5p per day, so the weekly amount will be £10.75, please put this in an envelope marked clearly with your child’s name and class.  Also Year 2’s moving into Year 3 if you have not applied for Free School Meals your child will have to pay, have a packed lunch or go home for dinner, this needs to be sorted the first week back.  Please inform your class, what your child will be having.  Thank you.

School re-opens on 5 September 8.45am.  Have a wonderful summer break.
