Rochdale Christadelphian Meeting Rooms
Our Bible Hour this Sunday is entitled ‘Don’t blame the devil – the Bible blames you’.
Many religions involve a Satan figure – someone who acts as an enemy to God, and in many cases someone who tempts believers to sin.
The words in the Bible interpreted as ‘Devil’ are ‘satan’ and ‘diabolos’. ‘Satan’ translates literally from Hebrew as ‘adversary’, and the Greek word ‘diabolos’, means ‘false accuser’ or ‘slanderer’.
However, consider James 1:14 – ‘every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust’.
Does this really leave any role for ‘the Devil’? Christadelphians believe that the ‘devil’ or ‘satan’ in many cases refers to human nature – there is no supernatural devil.
Please come and listen for yourself – we plan to hold this talk on Sunday 22 July 2018, at 4:30pm.
Our Bible class, at 7:45pm on Tuesday 24 July will be ‘Joined unto Yahweh – lessons from the Levites’.
