St Peter’s leavers’ attend service at Manchester Cathedral
The Year 6 children from St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, Rochdale attended the Leavers’ Service at Manchester Cathedral on Wednesday 13 June.
It was a wonderful morning in which the Right Reverend Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton and Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, warmly greeted the congregation.
After this, there was a lovely speech from Cannon Maurice Smith CB, Diocesan Director of Education, reflecting on the values the children have learned during their time in their primary schools and encouraging them to remember these, and take these these forward, making positive contributions to their new high schools.
Presentations were given by pupils from schools across the diocese, about ‘Peace’, ‘Courage’ and ‘Service’ allowing everybody to reflect on how these Christian Values can be applied to daily life.
Year 6 teacher Miss Hulse said: “As always, the children and staff really look forward to the leavers’ service. It gives both staff and pupils a real sense of belonging and is a time where they can think fondly of the past and look to the future and their continuing journeys.”
