St Peter’s Church of England Primary School celebrate the feast day of St Peter

The children of St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, Rochdale celebrated the feast day of St Peter, their school name saint on Friday 29 June.

The day started with a sermon by Rev. Steven Watkinson from St Peter’s Parish Church, Newbold where the children learned more about the life of St Peter and his journey to spread the Gospel.

Following this, the children had a day of fun-filled activities in class linked to St Peter.

The children also enjoyed a fantastic magic show; a visit from the ice-cream van, with every child being treated to an ice-cream; and the school field was filled with bouncy castles. It was a wonderful day where the children could remember the journey St Peter went on and reflect on their own life journey.

Headteacher, Aelred Whelan said: “Our school is named after St Peter, and it was great to celebrate his achievements and how he can be an inspiration to us all. Even though he didn’t always get things right (even denying Jesus), he still persevered and spread the Good News. It was wonderful to see the children having so much fun.”
