Castleton Primary School celebrates 50 years of Parent and Teacher Association

Castleton Primary School celebrated 50 years of its Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) with a barbecue on Saturday (7 July).
The event was opened by the Deputy Mayor Billy Sheerin and Mrs Sheerin under glorious sunshine, with lots of parents, children and staff attending.
Chairwoman of the PTA, Louise Hulme said: “It is a big achievement to get to the 50th anniversary, with a lot of dedication from past and present PTA Committee Members. The committee over the years has raised large amounts of money which as then been reinvested back into the school and the children.
“As Deputy Mayor Sheerin stated, 'This is all about our children'.”
Children and parents took part in many of the activities including hook-a-duck, ring toss, splat the rat, bob-the-apple, beat the goalie, plus a tombola and raffle.
Refreshments were served, such as hot dogs, beef burgers, corn on the cob and candy floss, ice cream and sweets.
