Mike Goldrick receiving the president role from immediate past president Frank Coates
The Rotary Club of Heywood has elected a new president and vice-president.
Mike Goldrick is the president and Richard Slater the vice-president.
Past President Frank Coates said: “Congratulations to Mike Goldrick on receiving the president role.
"We were delighted to welcome assistant district governor John Shepley.
“Here is to an excellent year for you all.”
Mike Goldrick’s chosen charity for the year is Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Talented Heywood cricketer Tom Hardman died, just before his twenty-second birthday on 28 November 2012, of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.
He was a fit and health young man who had been named Leeds Bradford MCCU captain for the following 2013 season but lost his life to sudden cardiac death. Tom’s funeral was at St Joseph’s RC Church, Heywood.
His mum, Margaret, now fundraises for the charity to raise awareness. CRY has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD).
