Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 02 July 2018

On Tuesday, 26 June, our group of Community Cohesion Ambassadors, along with our partners at Marland Hill and Rochdale Sixth Form college, visited the Town Hall for the annual presentation to representatives from the local council and Police.  As always, the event was a huge success, with the children presenting extremely persuasive speeches with regards to how our local area could be improved.

All children have now had the opportunity to experience a range of water sports and activities at Hollingworth Lake. The children have had a whale of a time and staff have thoroughly enjoyed sharing this experience with them. Thank you to Mrs Booth for her super organisational skills!

On Tuesday 3 July, children will have the opportunity to move into their new classes for a morning. This will give them a chance to meet their new teachers and talk about what they can expect from the year ahead. They will need dropping off in their usual classrooms, where they will be registered, before being taken by staff to their new classrooms to meet their new teacher. Year 6 children will be attending their transition days at their new high schools.

As parents will no doubt be aware, over recent weeks, a number of young people from around the country have died whilst swimming in open bodies of water. Whilst it may be tempting in the hot weather to go for a swim, this can be extremely dangerous, and we would urge you to talk to your children about the dangers of doing so. It is simply not safe to swim in reservoirs, lakes and streams.

There will be no more clubs for this year after school as of next week.  We would like to thank Mrs Booth for her continued coordination of sports clubs/competitions and to anyone who has given time this year to run a club or assist at an out of school hour’s event.  Huge thanks also to the children and families of those who have attended and made the clubs such a success.

Citizens of the Week are…

Whole School for their excellent behaviour, perseverance and determination at Hollingworth Lake as part of Fun Week.  Also, EYFS for their excellent behaviour at the park as part of Fun Week.

Please can parents ensure that whilst the hot weather persists that children have sun cream applied before they come to school and please send in hats to help shade them whilst they are out on the playground.

Can parents please note that your children’s Reports will be distributed over the coming weeks.

All schools have been provided with leaflets by the local authority which we have been asked to distribute to our families. Please can parents take some time to read these as they contain important information about how to keep children safe. Thank you.

Well done to Miss Nicholson Class with best attendance for week ending Friday 22 June 2018.
