Rochdale Council has recently purchased two properties on Drake Street.
It is not known how much the council paid for 36 and 36A Drake Street, or the reason for the purchase.
36 Drake Street is home to Shelly B’s Café.
Shelly Buxton, who runs the café, found out from her previous landlord that the council had purchased the property.
Burr Design Associates is above the café at 36A, an architectural practice formed by Dennis Burr in 1985.
Rochdale Council has been contacted for comment.
